The châteaux of the Loire Valley

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Loire Valley is full of beautiful natural and historic treasures. Some of the most notable include the château Royal d’Amboise, the first to introduce an Italian flavour to the Loire Valley, and the château du Clos Lucé, the final residence of Leonardo da Vinci. An inventor, painter, musician, poet, philosopher, botanist and scientist all rolled into one, this multi-talented genius lived here for three years until his death on 2nd May 1519.

Also near the hotel are the château d’Azay-le-Rideau, described by author Honoré de Balzac as “a faceted diamond, set in the Indre”; the château de Chenonceau, nicknamed the “château des Dames” (Ladies’ Castle) and a true Renaissance masterpiece straddling the Cher River; and the château de Villandry and its gardens, a green paradise that will whisk visitors away to a world of serenity.

You can also visit such places as the château de Langeais and its park, the Royal city of Loches, all under 40 minutes from the hotel.
